Corrector Català, free and private checking inside your browser
Corrector Català · AGPLv3 When previously basic features move behind a subscription, the loss is not equal for every language. Catalan needs everyday tools that can be used, reviewed and maintained without depending on a commercial decision.
The project began with that need: restore checking while people type and keep the entire infrastructure open for anyone to self-host.
Checking wherever you type. The extension underlines errors in text areas, searches, comments and web editors such as Gmail, Reddit, X and WhatsApp Web.
Variants that matter. It detects standard Catalan, Valencian, Balearic and Spanish, with manual selection whenever the user needs it.
Controllable privacy. There is no analytics or tracking. Text travels over HTTPS only to the LanguageTool server selected by the user.
Reproducible infrastructure. The repository includes the extension, landing page, tests and Docker/Plesk server deployment under AGPLv3.
The value is not simply replacing one extension. It is letting users choose their server, understand where their text goes and retain an alternative when a third party changes its business model.
