Club Natació Vallirana, the noticeboard of a club its own committee keeps up to date
cnvallirana.cat · swimming and water polo · five youth age groups Club Natació Vallirana swims in the Baix Llobregat with two sections, swimming and water polo, youth teams from the very youngest age group up and a volunteer committee holding the whole thing together. Its motto says it without detours: som història, som equip, som futur.
What was missing was a place where all of that was in order and, above all, where the committee could publish without depending on anyone. Timetables, age groups, fixtures and news change every season: a website you have to ask someone nicely to update is no use.
We made the club’s noticeboard, not a brochure. People come to a club’s website for three things: what time their child trains, which age group they belong to and what happened on Sunday. The structure was ordered around those questions, and not around what a club usually wants to say about itself.
Two sporting sections under the same roof. Swimming and water polo each have their own page, with their coaching staff, their age groups and their links to the Federació leagues. Five swimming age groups, from prebenjamí to absolut, with the year of birth next to each one so nobody has to ask.
We coded the tables by hand. Training timetables and age groups by year of birth are the most consulted content and the most awkward to lay out: alternating rows, readable on a phone and one screen per season. Half the development job is in there.
A short system so the committee can run it. PT Sans in two weights, one red, a 2 px radius and no shadows: few pieces and hard to break. Since then the club publishes its own news, changes timetables and posts the calendar without calling us, while we keep WordPress and Elementor up to date.
The decision that explains everything is photographic: the top band is always people from the club, never a stock image, and the red is kept for the icon, the button and the link. A club recognises itself in its own photos; the design only had to make room for them and point the way.
Underneath there is a WordPress with Elementor and a global kit set by hand, not the defaults: primary red, brand black #1A1818, text grey #7A7A7A and PT Sans 600 as the primary typeface. A 1222 px container inside full-width sections, buttons in capitals with 1.3 px of letter-spacing, a 2 px radius and shadows switched off on body, menu, footer and buttons. The system is flat on purpose.
The component that rules is the table: coaching staff with name and age group, timetables by group and years of birth, with alternating light grey rows so you do not lose the line on a phone screen. Next to it, the news blog with comments, the fixture calendar, the PDF of club records and the members’ area.
What ages best in a job like this is the upkeep. The installation dates from 2016, the redesign from 2023, and the site still runs on an up-to-date WordPress and Elementor, with pages touched in 2024, 2025 and March 2026.
